Golden City, the orthopedic ward of the city hospital.

Dressed in a white dress that hinted at ethereal beauty, Tahlia Williams leaned against the white wall, appearing a bit pale.

She held a medical report in her hand, recalling the doctor’s words: "Tahlia, as a doctor, I have to tell you very honestly that Mr. Bradford's calf muscles have wasted away. If he does not cooperate with the exercise, I'm afraid he will be bound to a wheelchair for the rest of his life."

Worry and unease stirred a thousand waves in her heart!

An accident that happened two years ago led her to dedicate two years of her youth as compensation. She looked forward to the day when Sean Bradford could stand up again so that they would not owe each other anything and she could regain her freedom. However, the doctor's words doused her hopes with cold water.

Her clear, beautiful eyes held a hint of despair. Taking a deep breath, she turned and pushed open the ward door.

Sean was lying in bed, eyes closed as he rested. Hearing the noise at the door, he slowly opened his eyes and glanced at Tahlia. His calm face gradually turned cold, emanating a chilly aura.

Already accustomed to Sean's attitude, Tahlia paid no mind to it. She walked to his bedside and spoke softly: "You heard what the doctor said! Do you want to waste away in this bed forever?"

Hearing her words, Sean's nerves tightened. With a gloomy face, his eyes glared at Tahlia with a deadly stare, shouting harshly: "Get out!"

Tahlia remained unmoved, standing steadfastly as she coldly stared at Sean, emotions erupting: "Get up!"

You can be capricious, but I can't afford to be! For two years, I think I have repaid much of what I owe you. If only you could stand up…

The thing Sean hated most was being ordered around by others.

He reached for the cup on the bedside table, intending to throw it at Tahlia.

However, Tahlia was a step ahead, grabbing his wrist and forcibly snatched the cup from Sean's hand.

"You want to throw a cup at me again? Do you have any other skills than this, Sean?"

Tahlia looked decisively at him, her eyes filled with anger yet still maintaining her dignity. Her words were sharp and biting.

When the cup was taken away, Sean's face twisted in rage, warning Tahlia, "Get out!"

Ignoring his warning, Tahlia held Sean's wrist tightly and firmly stated, "Stand up!"

His thin lips quivered slightly as if suppressing his fury, warning Tahlia, "Let go!"

"Never. Sean, let me tell you, I've been your slave for two years. If you continue this self-destructive behavior, I don't have the patience to stick around."

A cold smirk appeared on the corner of Sean's mouth. He stared icily at Tahlia who was just inches away and scoffed, "So, this is what you've been really thinking, right?"

Tahlia didn't deny it, nor did she admit to it.

"Don't think that I don't know what's on your mind. You hope that I would recover so you could rightfully file for divorce and free yourself from me forever, right?"

This time, Tahlia didn't deny it. Her eyes were indifferent as she stared at Sean, firmly asking, "Why shouldn't I think this way? Our marriage was built on your injury. If you recover, naturally, you can pursue your happiness, and at the same time, I can be freed."

She was just that kind of woman, capable of easily stirring up Sean's anger.

Enraged, Sean shot back at Tahlia, "Tahlia, you are so naïve. Do you really think that if I recover, you can just walk away?"
