Chapter

Elizabeth woke up from a stupor, her head splitting with pain, her vision as blurry as she had grown accustomed to.

She attempted moving her body, but only then did she discover her limbs were tied.

Having just been to the hospital for prenatal examination, later on... she felt someone strike the back of her neck violently, plunging her vision into absolute darkness.

Kidnapping!

As the wife of the administrative official of Austin City, she could potentially be in such danger at any time.

This shocking realization jolted Elizabeth awake, the hairs on her body standing on end.

Elizabeth unconsciously curled up the corners of her mouth as a surge churned in her stomach, the little one in her belly being restless again.

She managed to turn her body slightly to the side, allowing her protruding belly to not be suspended so uncomfortably.

Elizabeth secretly heaved a sigh of relief, she could distinctly feel the little one kicking her.

Thank goodness, the child is okay!

All she could do now was stay calm, she must remain calm.

As the sound of high heels rubbing against pebbles drew nearer, a familiar scent of perfume wafted over as well.

Elizabeth furrowed her brows, this person is….

A familiar voice rang out, "Is the digging done? Hurry it up!"

That voice couldn't be more familiar, it was her best friend Garcia Maria!

"Garcia Maria, is that you? What are you doing here?" Elizabeth had a creeping sense of realization, a chill already starting to creep into her heart.

Maria shot Elizabeth a disgusted glance, yet she didn't care to respond.

This made Elizabeth's heart drop even more. "Maria, what are you doing? Where is this exactly?"

Maria strolled over slowly, squatting before Elizabeth.

Her icy nails brushed over Elizabeth's face, finally landing on the burn scar, she couldn't help but gloat with a pleased smirk.

"Elizabeth, you'll soon find out what I am about to do!"

Elizabeth instinctively curled up, hugging her belly, looking left and right in panic.

In front of her, blurry figures were busy at work.

At that moment, someone shouted, "Miss Garcia, the pit is ready."

"If it's done, just bury it! What are you waiting for? Worthless creature!" Maria scolded.

"Yes, ma'am!" The subordinate bent over, ready to carry out the order.

Suddenly, Maria raised her hand, smirking ominously, "Wait a minute, release her before throwing her in! I am eagerly looking forward to seeing Elizabeth struggle!"

Bury? Was Maria going to bury her alive?!

"Garcia Maria, have you gone mad?", Elizabeth

asked in her stunned, terrified, and trembling voice.

As her bonds were loosened Elizabeth felt a lightness in her body as she was lifted.

Immediately afterward, she was violently thrown out.

Elizabeth instinctively hugged her stomach, rolling down along the pit's wall more than a dozen times before coming to a halt.

Her belly painfully throbbed, akin to a knife stirring inside it.

"Ah....," Elizabeth screamed, cruelly curled into a ball due to pain, "Maria, weren't we good sisters? What did I do wrong to you? Why are you treating me like this?"

A fit of arrogant laughter erupted from Maria, "Good sisters? Who said we were good sisters? From the very first day I met you, I deeply detested you from the bottom of my heart. If it wasn't for Scott Robert's sake, would I ever be friends with you? I just wanted to help Robert acquire the wealth of your Smith family. Now, you're of no value to me."

Her body was already soaked in sweat, Elizabeth panted weakly, indignantly repeating, "No, Robert loves me, he wouldn't treat me like this, he wouldn't!!"

What she received in return was the mockery of Maria, "Love you? Haha, Elizabeth, you're truly a fool! If Robert loved you, why would your grandpa wind up in a vegetative state? And what about your foster father's car accident? Not to mention your disfigured face and your eyes.

Sigh, every step was executed so perfectly, and the mastermind behind it all is the one you deeply love. However, the one thing Robert hates the most is stupidity, especially a woman as ugly and foolish as you are. It truly sickens him to the core!"

Elizabeth's eyes widened, shaking her head in disbelief, "Impossible, it's impossible!" Over forty percent of her face was burnt, her foster father died in a car accident, and her grandfather still lay on a hospital bed, wired to a respirator, indistinguishable from a corpse...

Her loved ones departed one by one. She endured countless accusations, people claiming her life to be cursed, that she brought doom upon her family and loved ones.

She repeatedly repented and regretted.

Could all this have been a conspiracy?

Maria's contemptuous and triumphant laugh echoed once again, she added, "Oh, by the way, on the eve of your wedding, while your photos were being taken, guess where I was? I was in your bridal chamber with Robert. Your marital bed is so soft, and I picked it out! Hahaha...."

A triumphant laugh shattered all the hopeful thoughts

Elizabeth had.

"I want to see Robert... I need to see him!"

Elizabeth trembled as if someone had torn a bloody hole right through her heart.

A voice told her that everything Maria had said was true but she refused to believe it.

How could it be true?

How?.

Maria broke into laughter, "Elizabeth, save your energy. 'Robert' is now at a ceremony receiving the 'Great Contributor' medal from Eastern Summer Country. Do you think he has time to meet with you?"

Elizabeth struggled with all her might, crawling forward towards the voice. Her knuckles dug deeply into the soil to merely drag her heavy body forward.

"I don't believe he would treat me like this! I don't believe it!"

Elizabeth wept uncontrollably, but she still mustered the strength to keep crawling. She did not resign. She wanted to hear Robert tell her personally.

"Sheesh, you just never give up!"

Maria got up impatiently and ordered, "Bury her!"

Sand and soil began to fall on her, sending Elizabeth into a terrified frenzy. She struggled uphill against the pile.

Grasping the hem of Maria's dress, "Maria, Maria, I beg you. I can give up anything. But I am carrying Robert's child. Please let me go up. Even if he hates me, he can't ignore his child..." Elizabeth pleaded desperately, ready to die just to save her child.

Maria pulled her dress free and replied in disgust, "Who do you think you are to carry Robert's child? Are you even worthy?"

"Ex-excuse me? What do you mean?"

"Wouldn't you even know who you slept with?"

Maria ridiculed and laughed.

Elizabeth's mind was buzzing.

Just that one time, just that one time, could it not be Robert?

"No, it's impossible!" Elizabeth desperately shook her head.

Why, why has it come to this? Why has her world suddenly turned upside-down?

Maria watched coldly as the dust flew up, landing shovel by shovel on Elizabeth, feeling great satisfaction in her heart.

Elizabeth, go die with your illegitimate child!

The news will report tomorrow that the Chief Executive's wife, Elizabeth, had an affair and conceived a child out of wedlock, eloping with her lover. That will be the biggest scandal in the history of Austin City. You are already notorious for hiring gigolos and entering a hotel on your wedding eve. You are disgusting alive and even more despised dead!" Maria breathed a sigh of relief, "I feel relieved!"

"You despicable couple, I am going to kill you! I will kill you!"

"I will not let you go even if I become a ghost! I will not!"

Scott Robert, Garcia Maria, you will not die a good death!"

The pain all over her body numbed her to the point she could only feel a warmth gushing out from between her legs, blood spreading endlessly.

Elizabeth's face was deathly pale, like a terrifying ghost crawling out from hell.

Suddenly, the sky thundered and a heavy rain began pouring down. The large raindrops hit her face.

Beneath her hands, she could feel the little one in her belly growing weaker and weaker, just like her, unable to muster even a little bit of strength.

Until the moment her breath stopped, her ambered-colored, vacant eyes never closed...
