"Pay up now or... we will make you regret it!"

The threatening words jolted Logan awake, looked around the room painted both familiar and foreign. Surrounding him were four burly men, their menacing presence filling the space, knocking for debt, feeling like it was all a dream.

Just half a minute ago, Logan had been alone, dying in a car accident after a lifetime of regret.

His final memories were of someone asking for his family's contact information. He recalled his long-estranged family, his wife, and daughter, the people he had failed the most. As he wept, his consciousness fell into chaos, and all his past experiences played back rapidly, until he opened his eyes again.

A muscular men came out of the bedroom, waving a piece of paper in front of Logan, who was on the ground: "This is the debt your wife owes. If you can't pay up in three days, we'll be back to take the house."

Logan tried to regain his consciousness, watching the familiar scene unfold before him. Although he didn't know what had exactly happened, he was sure he had been reborn. This was the day he had regretted for the rest of his previous life, the day everything spiraled out of control.

"Don't hurt my daddy?"

The small voice snapped Logan's attention to the bedroom doorway, a four-year-old girl stood clutching a doll.

"Lily..." Logan's voice trembled, and tears blurred his vision.

He could hardly believe it--his daughter, Lily, standing alive and well. In his previous life, just five days after this moment, his wife had leapt from the balcony with Lily in her arms. The memory had haunted him for years, no amount of success or wealth ever erasing his guilt.

Lily hit one of the men with the doll in her hand. Seeing the man about to hit her, Logan quickly got up from the ground and in one stride, held Lily in his arms, "If you dare hurt my daughter, I will make you regret ever being born!"

His murderous eyes made the man pause for a moment. Logan, held his daughter, tears streaming down his face.

"I'm sorry, Lily... in this lifetime... I will never leave you again..."

The longing for his daughter had utterly broken this man. The same man who would one day possess absolute power and incredible wealth, to the point where he would rather give up everything just to see his wife and daughter one more time.

Lily reached up with her tiny hands, gently rubbing the bruise on Logan's forehead. "Daddy... I hate seeing you hurt. I don't need any more dolls. Just don't fight with Mommy, okay? And don't let these bad men into our home."

Her innocent words cut deeper than any wound. Logan tear up once more. Lily simplistically believed that the four 'bad men' disrupted their home because she bought a doll, never once thinking she had a bad father.

"My sweet Lily, Daddy will no longer argue with Mommy. Daddy will work hard to earn money, to buy you more dolls, the prettiest dresses, and the sweetest cakes."

As he said this, Logan broke into sobs. These were his daughter's wishes, none of which had been fulfilled in his past life. Logan squandered their money on gambling and drinking, leaving his family to struggle, to the extent he couldn’t afford to buy anything for Lily, or even to provide for her tuition or provide her a decent meal. All she had were hand-me-down clothes. Just half an hour earlier, he had fought with his wife because she had bought a doll for Lily.

"Really? Daddy is the best!" Lily beamed, leaning forward to kiss his cheeks.

The moment Lily's small, soft lips touched his face, it felt as if his heart would shatter.

"Do you think lying to her would fix anything?"

Just then, an icy voice shattered this brief moment of father-daughter reunion. Following the sound of the voice, Logan couldn’t prevent a shudder.

Out of the bedroom briskly walked a woman, her long hair tied into a simple bun. Clad in a white T-shirt and tight jeans, her mundane outfit accentuated her stunningly beautiful face. However, her icy demeanor, combined with the signs of hardship and despair she carried, eroded much of her beauty.

It was Emma, Logan's wife.

Overflowing with endless longing and guilt for Emma, he silently stared at her. Logan wanted to rush forward, hold her in his arms, and tell her just how much he was sorry, and how much he missed her.

Facing Emma's icy gaze, however, he repressed his impulses. His heart filled with bitterness, all distilled into two words: "I'm sorry."

Emma's eyes widened in surprise, clearly taken aback.

She had never heard the Logan say those words before. The only words she's ever heard from Logan were "give me money."

"Sorry?" she bitterly said. "Will your apology make these men go away? Will it erase the debt?"

Logan was speechless, he didn't know what to say. He knew his wife is right. He turn to Emma, and said "Take Lily inside, let me talk to them!"

Emma's face remained expressionless. She just looked at Logan coldly and without saying a word, picked up Lily and headed for the bedroom.

She must feel absolutely devastated now, right?

He often wondered just how desperate his wife must have felt and how much she must have blamed him for her to jump from the building with their daughter in her arms.

"Stop playing this pitiful show!" one of the men shouted.

"I am warning you, if you can't pay the debt in three days. If you don't have the money by then, we'll take the house. And trust me, that'll be the least of your problems."

Logan turned a deaf ear until the door closed. He clenched his fist as he turned back to the men.

He knew how this encounter had played out in his previous life. These men had pressured Emma into signing the contract, and their threats had driven her to despair. Logan had always blamed them for what happened to his wife and daughter. But deep down, he knew the real culprit was himself.

"A month's time, three hundred thousand principal and interest, I will pay back all the money, now...please leave immediately!" Logan tried to calm himself down. He just looked coldly at the leader. "Don't even think of running away from us!" the leader slammed the contract onto the table, pointed at Logan, and bragged, "Believe it or not, I can sue you right now and have you thrown out of this house within minutes!"

The man who was speaking was named Matt, specialized in lending money at interest. However, he was very cautious in his dealings, taking advantage of legal loopholes. He always required a written pledge when lending money, using property rights as collateral.

The contract was personally written by Emma, stating that she owed three hundred thousand and if she did not repay it on time, the house would be transferred to the name of the creditor...

Logan picked up the contract on the table, wrote a sentence on the back and handed it over to Matt, "I just need one month, I won't shortchange you in the repayment..."

What Logan wrote was simply 'Building 3, Unit 2, Room 302, Greenridge Estate' and a string of phone numbers.

Upon receiving the note, Matt's face turned deathly pale with shock!

Wasn't Greenridge Estate where his mistress lived? And wasn't this string of phone numbers were his wife's number! How on earth did Logan know this?

The more Matt thought about it, the more frightened he became. It felt like a threat! Wiping the cold sweat trickling down his forehead, he nervously stuffed the contract in his pocket. Looking up, he saw Logan standing steadily in front of him, staring at him intently!

The man swallowed hard, his confidence crumbling. He motioned for others to leave.

As the door slammed shut behind them, Logan stood alone in the silence. He had been given a second chance, he wasn't going to waste it.

Logan stared at the closed door, determination burning in his eyes. He had one month to fix everything, one month to protect his family from the mistakes of his past. But could he earn back their trust in time?

The clock was ticking.
