Inside the car, the light was dim.
The glass window reflected two undulating figures. The woman leaned bonelessly in the man's arms, her long skirt hitched to her waist. Her fulsome legs were imprisoned by his palms.
The touch of their skin sparked an unbearable itch.
The man's big hand squeezed her slender waist. Behind his glasses, his narrow eyes were devoid of emotions.
"Is it your first time?”
Seraphina raised her eyes, a red mole at the corner adding an extra bit of allure to her already stunning face.
She gave a charming smile, her voice laced with a hint of intoxication, “Does it matter?”
Since Sebastian had the audacity to sleep with Aria at their engagement banquet and even supposedly drugged her to be bedded by an old man, she might as well let him taste betrayal!
Sleeping with a handsome, broad-shouldered, slim-waisted man was definitely better than being sent to some old sleaze.
She ran her hands up the man's neck, her red lips inching closer...
After a thorough tryst.
Seraphina had finally sobered up quite a bit. She took out a wad of money from her handbag, her slender fingers looped around the man's belt, gave it a light pull, and stuffed the money in.
"Young man, your services were satisfactory. See you."
She put on her formal dress, picked up her stiletto heels and got out of the car without a backward glance, making her way into the elevator. The moment the elevator doors closed, Ezra looked at her as she lightly parted her red lips, a flirtatious expression in her eyes.
From between her lips floated four words.
"Never to meet again."
Jackson took off his glasses, the slender fingers of his hand massaging the bridge of his nose as an inexplicable emotion surfaced in his eyes.
He was always disciplined, never indulging in such ludicrous acts of play-acting.
Yet today, his vows were broken by a sudden woman.
His assistant hurried over, seeing Jackson lying tiredly in his chair and immediately asked, "Sir, are your eyes making you uncomfortable again?"
Ten years ago, the young Jackson was blinded by eye disease and had stayed in a sanatorium for a year. The assistant was afraid that he might be having a recurrence of his old ailment and was somewhat worried.
"No need to worry."
"The engagement banquet is about to begin, everyone is waiting for you."
"Um."
He put on his glasses and regained his usual dignified and aloof demeanor, returning to being the high and mighty Mr. Jackson he was, as if the intimate moment that just happened were all but a dream.
As soon as Seraphina returned to the banquet hall, she was stopped by Noah.
"Seraphina, where did you go? Do you know my uncle is here today? Can you afford to ignore him? How can you be so thoughtless?"
Seraphina casually glanced at Noah. On his neck was a hickey given by Aria half an hour ago.
Half an hour earlier, Seraphina found out that he and her adopted daughter, Aria, had been sleeping together three months ago.
How nauseating.
Aria, who had tarnished her reputation, was not originally surnamed Morgan. When she was ten, her parents died in a car accident. Her relatives wanted to send her to an orphanage, but Aria wept, unwilling to part from her good friend.
Seraphina, moved by her tears, pleaded with her parents to keep her in the Morgan family.
Taking on the their surname, she enjoyed the same privileges of a young lady of the Morgan family just like Seraphina.
From the age of ten until twenty-three.
When Seraphina remained silent, Noah, somewhat impatient, said, "Didn't I ask you to propose a toast for Mr. Hudson and the others? Why didn't you?
Seraphina, you are no longer the lady of the Morgan family. The Morgan family is now bankrupt. So, stop putting on airs. Once you've cheered up Mr. Hudson, I can secure that fifty-million project.
Who knows, it might even help ease your father's debt crisis."
Seraphina looked at Aria, who was standing behind Noah, serene with the passage of time. She curved her lips slightly, "Aria weren't you the one who always said you wanted to repay father's kindness in raising you?
Why don't you go and cheer up Mr. Hudson?"
Aria's face subtly changed. She pursed her lips and remained silent.
Contrarily, Noah appeared as if someone stepped on his tail, furiously retorting, "Seraphina, Aria is not like you."
Seraphina gave a light laugh, "Yes, of course she is not. I'm not as shameless as her."
Tears instantly filled Aria's eyes, "Seraphina, did I upset you again? Tell me, and I'll change."
Noah protected Aria, "What needs changing? You're gentle and kind, it's Seraphina who needs to change!"
"Noah, stop talking. I am a guest in the Morgan family. No matter what she says, it doesn't matter to me."
Noah, not caring about anyone's feelings anymore, directly spoke to Aria: "Don't worry, we don't have to proceed with this engagement party. From now on, you don't need to rely on others. I'll provide a home for you."
"Noah..."
Seeing Aria's teary-eyed face, Noah was moved. He shouted in the direction of his mother: "Mom, I don't want this marriage anymore!"
All eyes turned to him.
His mother's face turned green. "What nonsense are you spouting?"
"Mom, Seraphina is domineering and irrational. She is far from a virtuous and virtuous wife. Besides, she races all day long, mingling with strange men. Her behavior is not decent. How do I know if she has cheated on me or not!"
"Shut up! Your uncle is arriving soon. If you dare to embarrass yourself in front of him today, I'll break your legs."
The crowd buzzed with whispers.
Seraphina looked up to see a tall man striding towards her, surrounded by others. His face was expressionless, yet he possessed an overwhelming presence.
Seraphina raised her eyebrows slightly.
It was him?
The man who just had an intimate encounter with her in the underground parking lot was this loser's uncle?
Seeing how everyone bowed down before him, Seraphina's mouth curled up into a slight smile.
Interesting.
Things were starting to get interesting. She found the thought of this disgraceful man and woman addressing her as "auntie" to be quite amusing.
Seraphina weighed ninety-six kg, with ninety of them being rebellious. The other six kg were mounted on her chest. Anyone who offended her would never have a good day.
She was the type to seek revenge for the smallest grievance even if it took a minute to pass.
In a hurry, Noah obsequiously called out, "Uncle, you've returned to the country."
One could tell that he was deeply afraid of his uncle.
Before they could continue the conversation, Seraphina suddenly instituted, "Noah, I think what you just said makes sense. Let's cancel our engagement banquet today."
Ezra, seemingly unconcerned, cast his gaze onto Seraphina’s face. The glasses he wore reflected a cold speck of light, but his eyes were devoid of any fluctuation.
Seraphina sneered inwardly.
He was being flirtatious in the car just now, but is pretending to be innocent now.
Upon hearing Seraphina's statement, Noah's mother's face turned completely dark. The Morgan family had fallen into penury overnight, she originally did not wish for her son to continue being tied to such a desolate house. Yet, she does not have the right to call off the engagement.
"Seraphina, you...."
"Auntie, since Noah has moved onto someone else, I wish them a loving and long-lasting life together."
Seraphina knew exactly the tiny schemes of Noah's mother.
They loathed the poor and loved the rich. They didn't break up with her the moment the Morgan family went bankrupt, hoping that her face could help them secure a few more wealthy, old men.
In reality, she had already begun searching for a wealthy, beautiful woman for her son.
With a deceitfully sweet voice, Noah's mother said, "Seraphina, if you don't want to get engaged to Noah, we can discuss it. But if you are just making accusations to tarnish his reputation, aunty will not approve."
Seraphina curled her lips in smile.
The big screen behind her started to display a disheveled scene of Noah and Aria tangled together...
