After a long while, Ruby finally got up to wash the bowls and put them in the disinfectant cabinet calmly. After changing her clothes, she went to the garage and start her car. It took her half an hour to reach the company.

"Good morning, Ruby." The staff all greeted Ruby.

"Morning." Ruby smiled and nodded. She went into the office taking off her jacket and asked the assistant: "Is Jake here yet?"

"Yes, he's in the office."

Ruby went to the executive office and knocked on the door.

"Ruby is here?" Seeing Ruby coming in, he immediately put down the documents, and invited her to sit in the reception area, then started making a cup of tea: "Why are you here?"

"Something about borrowing money from you." Ruby did not hide it. "Jake, I have worked in the company for three years, and you know I'm credible. I hope you can borrow me two million," She said pleadingly.

Lee was startled for a moment, then said embarrassingly: "Ruby, it’s not decided by me in the company. Furthermore, with such a large amount of money, even if I approve, the other directors will not."

"I know, can I borrow it from you in private?" Ruby said, "Don't worry, in at most half a year, I will return this money even add on 5% of the interest to you!"

In three years’ marriage, she didn't know anything about his company except he was an investor. Furthermore, she had a contract with him, so his money has nothing to do with her.

"Ruby, I have no intention of refusing to help, but I am powerless as well." He made her a cup of tea: "I think I should tell finance to make your pay raise next month to thank you for your hard work recently."

Ruby knew that there was no point going on, she stood up and left: "I’m sorry to bother you for so long, thank you."

"Its fine, I didn't help much. You could try borrowing from the bank"

"Thank you."

Ruby felt a little irritated after leaving the executive office. She went to the washroom and took out a cigarette pack, lit them up without anyone around.

She was not addicted to cigarettes, and smoking was just for joking. Ever since she married Ethan and knew that he hated the smell of cigarettes, so she had never touched it again.

Ruby sat on the toilet and smoked with a slightly solemn expression.

Ever since she was young, she had always been proud of her father as a judge. She had thought about majoring in the judiciary which she was not interested in when she was in university. In the end, she chose finance.

She felt that her family was too 'rich' long ago. She had abundant dowry when she got married, at the same time her families had moved into a three—story villa. She had always felt that her father was making lots of money but hadn't thought too much about it.

It wasn't until a month ago when her father didn't return home and his huge amount of corruption was reported in the news. Ruby found that her father had been arrested.

Her mother had cried all so much that there are no more tears left and her hair was turning white.

Ruby was calm enough, she comforted her mother and contacted the lawyer, trying to find a way to pay back the stolen money step by step.

She sold all the houses including her dowry house and car. She moved to Ethan's apartment shamelessly, but she still needed two million.

For half a month, she had contacted all her good friends but borrowed nothing.
