Chapter 2

Kianna's POV

" Common darling."My mother beckoned on me as she opened the giant brass doors of the pack house.

Sighing, I shrug my shoulders as I made my way into the pack house, ready for whatever fate the moon goddess had destined me with.

The entire pack house was silent. Everyone stared at me as I walked toward my father. I could see my sister's hateful look as she stood at the corner of the ball room.

" Alpha."I greeted as I gave a slight bow.

When I looked up to my father, I could see how worried he looked but he was quick to put on a smile once my mother was sitted next to him.

All eyes were on me as I made my way to the line of pack members who were about my age.

One after the other, they kept touching the Crystal ball. Everyone cheered when each member saw his/her wolf on the Crystal ball. I got nervous by the minute.

What if I truly didn't have a wolf? I was the alpha's daughter for goodness sake! How would my parents feel when I touch the Crystal ball and then, I get to be the one in this ceremony without a wolf?

From the look on my sister's face, it was obvious she had seen her wolf.

" Oh moon goddess, the guardian of our soul, the one that protects without failing, please I need your guidance and help. I am your descendant. Please, do not forsake me." I whispered to myself during the celebration of another pack member who had just seen his wolf.

I looked back at my mother who passed me a big bright smile then to my father who nodded at me.

I can't believe I would be the one to take off those happy faces.

Writer's POV

Cecilia was filled with contempt. Secretly, she had prayed that the ceremony was going to end without her sister showing up but unfortunately for her, she did.

" She shouldn't be here." Cecilia kept saying to herself.

The way her parents passed her sister encouraging looks made her even angrier.

" Why are they not disappointed with Kiana not being able to feel her wolf? Perhaps Kiana had refused to tell them about it?" Cecilia asked herself.

Cecilia got eager for it to be Kiana's turn.

Kiana's POV

Finally, it was my turn. I felt all the hairs on my body stand. The looks I got from everyone drilled fear into me.

" Everyone! Let's applaud my wonderful sister as she makes her way to the Crystal ball!" I heard Cecilia say as she clapped and soon, everyone joined her.

I turned to look back at my parents, they were also clapping happily.

Slowly, I made my way to the Crystal ball.

" Go on Kiana, we're all waiting to see your wolf." Cecilia said with a smirk. Her mocking eyes and mocking tone threw me off balance.

" I'm counting on you moon goddess." I whispered as I placed both my hands on the Crystal ball and shut my eyes tightly.

When I felt like nothing happened, I opened my eyes but was almost blinded by the bright light that the Crystal ball emitted.

" Ah!" I heard Cecilia wince.

I was almost smiling until the light began to flicker.

"Oh no!" What's happening?

" What's going on?" I heard someone from the pack say.

" Please moon goddess, do not disappoint me." I prayed.

Finally, the light went off. I walked back to the Crystal ball and stared at it, still praying in my heart.

I waited, and waited past the normal time but nothing else happened. There was no wolf on the Crystal ball.

" I knew it." I said before running up to my room, ignoring all the stares and murmurings.

Cecilia's POV

" What?" I heard my father say disappointedly. The look on my mother's face was no different.

" That's it, the ceremony is over. Please, you may all use the exit. Thank you so much for attending the very first Crystal ball of the year. Goodnight." When I saw that my sister's disappointment had left my father speechless, I decided to take it upon myself to send the rest of the pack out of the pack house.

They continued murmuring until they had all left.

" Mother, Father. I'm really sorry for how tonight turned out. I never in my wildest imagination thought that Kiana would turn out to be wolfless." I sympathized with my parents.

My mother was currently sobbing in my father's arms. I hugged them for a while.

Finally, my position as next alpha of this pack was assured. Since we had equal rights as twins, I feared that I might have to share the alpha position with my sister but now that the whole pack had seen how wolfless and ordinary she was, I am rest assured that there would be no contender for the position of alpha of the Twilight pack.

" Mother, Father. My sister must be in so much pain. I should go to her." I offered.

" Please help her feel better."My mother spoke, still in my father's arms.

" I will mother." With that being said, I made my way to Kiana's room.

" Dearest sister!" I called out to her sarcastically as I entered her room.

She hadn't even closed her door.

" Kiana? Are you hiding from me? You don't need to, you know. The entire pack now knows how much of a failure you are." I laughed a little before taking a seat on her bed.

I laughed even more when I heard her smashing objects. The sound came from the bathroom.

" You can hide from me Kiana, but you wouldn't be able to hide from the pack on the day I shall be crowned alpha of this pack." I said firmly before taking my leave.

Writer's POV

" Fuck you!!" Kiana screamed as she came out of the bathroom with the attempt of throwing a soap at her sister but she was too late, Cecilia had already left, the soap landed on the wooden door before falling to the floor.
